Meet Dr. Kim

Dr. Kim Scutchfield

Kim Scutchfield is a graduate of Oakland University and earned her doctorate degree from Michigan State University in 2008. After 11 years practicing at The Cat Doctor of Monroe and the sudden loss of her brother in 2023, Dr. Kim needed to recenter.

Reflecting on what was truly most important to her, Dr. Kim decided to combine her love for animals and need for flexibility by starting an at home euthanasia service for her local community.

While at The Cat Doctor, home visits for euthanasia were one of the most rewarding services she provided. The pets were calmer and more relaxed surrounded by familiar settings and their families. The families were incredibly grateful to spend their final moments with their much loved pet in the peace and quiet of their own home or yard.

Dr. Kim's first experience with euthanasia outside the clinical setting occured during vet school, when her 18 year old cat, Steph (Ziggy) was euthanised in the gardens of MSU across from the vet school. The sense of calm and peacefulness Ziggy displayed lying in the sun, hearing the birds on a warm Spring day could never be replicated in a busy veterinary office.

Dr. Kim is a member of the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative care as well as the American Veterinary Medical Association, Michigan Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. She is currently completing her training in peaceful euthanasia through the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy.
